Domestication started around 10,000 years ago. Domestication is receiving an animal and training it for a special purpose to use in daily life. Selective breeding allows humans to choose what traits they want by breeding animals with it to eliminate any unwanted traits.

Domesticated animals are used for religious purposes, companionship, draft work, food, and clothing. In return the domesticated animals receive food and shelter. Animals that are not domesticated are difficult to keep because they have trouble breeding, they are picky eaters, require large enclosures, the animal is too large, the animal is nervous and or aggressive. Domesticated animals are docile in nature, are not territorial, grow quickly, and believe we are the alpha leader.
