Anal Glands:
All predators have anal glands (Canines, Felines, and Skunks). However skunks use them for defense, while dogs use them to mark their territory and to communicate with one another. Impacted anal glands look like grapes, Normal - yellow or brown Impacted pasty or gra.
Impacted glands: Most common on smaller breeds
Symptoms:
-Scooting
-Bloody stool
-Bad odor
-Secretion on carpet
-Swollen anus
-Licking behind excessively
Glands should be expressed around every 2 weeks.
